Basic Candle Safety and Burning Instructions

Remove all packaging and place the candle on a heat resistant surface. Burn candles no more than 3 to 4 hours per lighting. Keep the wick trimmed to ¼ inch to prevent a smoking candle. Keep burning candles out of drafty areas as drafts will cause candles to burn uneven and smoke. Never allow flame to touch glass/ceramic surface and discontinue use when ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom. NEVER LEAVE A BURNING CANDLE UNATTENDED.

How It Works

  1. Pour boiling water into your handcrafted candle pot while wax is still hot.
  2. Wait for wax and water to cool down. The boiling water will melt the remaining wax and as it cools the wax will float to the top while eventually hardening.
  3. Place the Stainless Steel double boiler with beeswax in a pot on the stove. Turn stove to medium/high heat. Keep the beeswax in the double boiler until completely melted.

CAUTION: DO NOT HEAT BEESWAX DIRECTLY ON AN OPEN HEAT SOURCE. BEESWAX HAS A FLASHPOINT OF 400 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT AND WILL DISCOLOUR ABOVE 185 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. FLASHPOINT IS THE TEMPERATURE THE BEESWAX WILL COMBUST.

  1. Using the wick tape, stick the wick cup to the bottom of the candle pot.
  2. Carefully pour new wax into the candle pot.

Tip 1: Place plastic wrap on surface prior to pouring wax. Wax can be difficult to clean if spilled.

Tip 2: Use a paperclip to keep wick straight. Bend the outer end of the paper clip to fit over top of the candle pot. Use the inner end of the paper clip to hold the wick.

Tip 3: Cool wax slowly to avoid cracks.
